Existing customers book their shipments themselves in PICit. If you are new, register as a customer first. For rolling stock, project cargo and other transport that needs a separate agreement, use the form on the Booking page.

The price depends on route, volume, weight and type of cargo. Send us a request and we will put together a tailored quote.

Shipments on our fixed departures are booked in PICit. The loading deadline for each departure is shown in the production plan, and the cargo must be at the terminal by then. Rolling stock, project cargo and special transport should be agreed with us well in advance.

We transport containers, semi-trailers, wagonload freight and rolling stock. Contact us if you are unsure whether your cargo is suitable for rail.

Yes, we carry dangerous goods in accordance with applicable regulations. You must declare the cargo and attach the required documentation, such as an ADR/goods declaration.

It depends on the cargo. Normally we need details on sender, recipient, weight, dimensions and contents. For rolling stock, vehicle data and a self-declaration are also required.

Tracking and environment

3

On the “Track the train” page you can see where our trains are right now, in both Norway and Sweden. For each train you see the last passing point, expected arrival and any delay. The map updates on its own.

Track the train

On electrified routes the train emits up to 97 percent less CO₂ than a modern Euro 6 truck. We have included the emissions from the electricity the train uses. Towards Åndalsnes part of the route is run on diesel, so the saving there is somewhat smaller. In the emissions calculator you can work out the figures for your own shipment and see how we calculate.

Every semi-trailer or container we carry is one truck fewer on the road. In total OnRail carried 810,179 tonnes of freight by rail in 2025. That equals approx. 42,000 trucks, or around 115 every day all year. In the emissions calculator you can see how many trucks your own shipment takes off the road.
